Civitavecchia – Ostia Antica (1/2)

Posting from Marseilles (6/6/15). At Civitavecchia, we ran two tours: Eternal Rome and Ostia Antica. Everyone else went to Rome, while I went to Ostia Antica and had the most relaxed morning I’d had for weeks and thought happily about how stressed everyone else would be during their full day in Rome. A little of the gloss came off when we got stuck in a 5km traffic jam on the way back to the ship, but really even an hour and a half’s delay and a very late lunch did not change my mind re: which tour I’d rather be on. I tried to go to Ostia the last time I was in Rome, mostly because it was Monday and everything in Rome itself was shut: as it turned out, so was Ostia, that time. Very glad I got to see it now.
